GOOD BY NAME…

I am a true product designer, with a background of broad skills that support my focus as a multi-skilled designer and creative problem solver. At every step in my career I have shattered preconceptions, delivered above expectation, and continued to evolve as a design leader. I have recently completed a Mini MBA in Marketing and continue to lead experience design at an agency of over 100 people. In the future I hope to find new opportunities that offers me the potential to grow and deliver innovative world-changing experiences.

Designer

Moving into an in-house job was a new experience for me, as was the scale of working at one of the UK’s largest and Top 100 digital companies. My role in the Product Design Development team started me out as a junior member of the team, working on the latest iterations of Sky Go, Sky+ and Sky Wifi apps. I quickly saw that repetitive asset creation was not really for me and researched and adopted automated processes using Photoshop and Apple Automator to speed up my workflow.

I pushed to gain more experience; when the team shifted to work on new projects, I eagerly took on more responsibility, being the only designer working on Sky Go and Sky+ across iOS, Android, Xbox, PS3, and all Web platforms. I would regularly explore new tools and methods for prototyping to enhance the quality of our mockups.

As the team began to trust my knowledge, I gained the opportunity to work on some amazing projects. One of my favourites focused on new concepts for the future of the Sky TV platform, which included customer research, collaborative ideation and concept development. The output from this project can still be seen in apps and updates released today.

One Is More

London
Aug 2010 - Aug 2011

Junior Designer

Working as a Junior in a tiny team has its advantages, working directly with the Creative Director I grew into a position to own small projects, including print design for magazines and brochures, and had the opportunity to work on creative projects for Crufts and St Georges Chapel in Windsor.

My skills in digital were able to be put to the test on projects such as websites for BLESMA and the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF), whilst my knowledge of maths and game theory came in handy when we created a flash game to advertise BFFF.

With a little bit of project management, PR and Events thrown in, this job exposed me to a huge breadth of projects and taught me a lot about the wider design and marketing industry.
